Feeding records, defaults, and schedules
Keep feeding evidence, preferences, stock use, and due-date calculations consistent without treating a schedule as a substitute for keeper judgment.
Before you begin
- The animal profile exists and has the correct species and active status.
- Feeder types and units are configured in Libraries & Rules.
- You know whether food-stock enforcement is enabled.
- The feeding result and date are known.
Step-by-step workflow
Configure the animal’s default feeding pattern
Set the normal interval, preferred food type, default quantity or size where supported, and any notes needed for safe routine entry.
Open individual or bulk feeding
Use individual entry for detailed exceptions. Use bulk feeding only after filtering the exact animals that were handled.
Record what was offered
Choose the food item, quantity, size, source, and date. Confirm units and feeder identity before saving.
Record the outcome
Distinguish accepted, refused, partial, or another supported outcome. Do not mark accepted because food was merely placed in the enclosure.
Review inventory behavior
When stock deduction is enabled, verify the correct feeder stock was reduced. When enforcement is disabled, the care record can still be saved without claiming tracked stock.
Review the next due date
Confirm the schedule advanced as expected. Adjust the animal default deliberately when the ongoing plan changes.
Expected result
The animal timeline shows exactly what was offered and what happened, while the next due date and optional feeder inventory reflect the configured rules.
Safety boundaries
- A due date is guidance, not an instruction to feed regardless of animal condition.
- Do not mark food accepted until consumption is confirmed according to your operating procedure.
- Do not deduct unrelated feeder stock to force inventory totals to match.
- Bulk entry must never include animals that were not actually handled.
Troubleshooting
The animal is missing from bulk feeding
Check active status, filters, selected species, Housing, due-date window, and default-food criteria.
Stock was not deducted
Confirm stock enforcement is enabled, a tracked feeder item was selected, and sufficient stock exists.
The next due date is wrong
Review the feeding interval, event outcome, event date, and timezone. Correct the source record rather than manually editing reports.
