PMA Spatial Canvas Operations
Spatial Canvas Operations places live PMA context onto your measured facility blueprint. It summarizes occupancy, Housing Setup coverage, maintenance timing, equipment service state, quarantine, and BioShield restrictions without copying those source records.
Who can use it
All authorized organization members can view operational overlays. Owners, administrators, and managers can also move objects, edit measurements, and save new Spatial Blueprint versions.
Authoritative links
Housing, equipment, animals, maintenance, and BioShield remain in their original PMA systems. The canvas reads those records and links you back to them.
Use the operational canvas

Open a measured blueprint
Choose an existing Spatial Blueprint. Operational context appears only for Housing and equipment objects linked to permanent PMA records.

Read the overlay colour
Rose means recorded action is required, amber means review, sky means setup information is incomplete, and green means no operational exception was found in the checked records.

Select an object
The side panel explains why the object received its status and shows occupancy, active environmental zones, overdue maintenance, restrictions, or equipment service state.

Open the source record
Use Open Housing, Housing Setup, operational work, or BioShield links to review and change the authoritative PMA record.

Refresh after changes
Return to Spatial Canvas and refresh. The overlay is derived again from current PMA data; it is not a stored diagnosis or certification.
Zoom and navigation
Zoom out
Reduce the work area in 10% steps. The minimum supported view is 40%.
Zoom in
Increase the work area in 10% steps up to 220% for precise placement and inspection.
Reset to 100%
Select the percentage between the zoom buttons to return to the normal design scale.
Fit to workspace
Fit calculates a useful scale from the current workspace width. It changes only your view, not saved dimensions.
On a desktop, hold Ctrl on Windows or Command on macOS while using the mouse wheel or trackpad to zoom. Scroll normally to move around the enlarged workspace.
Spatial Designer Toolkit
PMA provides precision tools for working with larger layouts while keeping permanent PMA Housing and equipment identities protected.
Undo and redo
Reverse or restore up to 50 object edits in the current editor session. Saving still creates the permanent immutable version.
Temporary ruler
Select Measure, choose a start point, move across the canvas, and choose an end point to see distance and angle without adding a saved object.
Object navigator
Search all placed walls, notes, Housing, equipment, doors, and openings, then focus the selected object in the workspace.
Keyboard precision
Use arrow keys to nudge a selected object by the snap step. Hold Shift for a larger movement. Ctrl/Command Z, Y, and D provide history and duplication shortcuts.
Layer and alignment controls
Move independent objects to the front or back and align them to the left, right, top, bottom, or either canvas centre line.
Safe duplication
Duplicate structural objects and notes. Linked Housing and equipment cannot be duplicated because each canvas placement must retain one authoritative PMA identity.
What the overlays check
Occupancy
Counts active animals in the linked Housing record and its descendants, including active quarantine occupants.
Housing readiness evidence
Checks for a Housing Setup profile and active environmental-zone records. Missing data is labelled setup incomplete, not unsafe.
Maintenance and equipment
Checks recorded maintenance due dates, equipment status, and recorded next-service dates.
Biosecurity context
Shows active quarantine records and BioShield restrictions that target linked Housing, occupants, or assigned equipment.
Operational boundary
Spatial Canvas Operations does not diagnose animals, does not certify Housing, and does not control equipment. It summarizes recorded PMA evidence and may be incomplete when source records have not been configured or updated.
Troubleshooting
The canvas says Setup incomplete
Open Housing Setup for the selected object and confirm the profile and at least one active environmental zone are recorded.
Occupancy looks too high or low
The count includes active animals assigned to the linked Housing record and its descendants. Review each animal’s current Housing assignment.
An equipment object needs review
Check the equipment registry for needs-service or out-of-service status, a passed next-service date, and linked maintenance routines.
Zoom changed but measurements did not
That is expected. Zoom changes only the displayed work area. Stored x, y, width, height, rotation, and grid measurements remain authoritative.
Save new version reports an ambiguous version number
Refresh the page and retry. If the version remains ambiguous, contact PMA support with the blueprint name and the time of the failed save.
