Using the PMA Setup Centre
Track organization readiness, resume exactly where setup stopped, reopen skipped steps, and move into the main workspace without losing the guidance later.
Purpose
Setup Centre is the persistent control surface for onboarding. It combines saved user decisions with evidence PMA can detect from the organization’s actual records.
Before you begin and permissions
- Owners and administrators can reopen, complete, or dismiss the organization-wide journey.
- Managers can complete operational steps allowed by their role.
- Owner-only steps, including sensitive organization and permission decisions, remain restricted.
- Members can view relevant guidance and readiness without receiving new write permissions.
Step-by-step workflow
Read the readiness summary
Review overall completion, completed and skipped steps, required items, recommendations, starting mode, resume position, and whether progress is stored in PMA Cloud.
Open the recommended step
Use Open to go directly to the relevant PMA page. Opening a pending step records it as in progress when your role permits.
Confirm completed work
Use Complete only after verifying the work exists. Automatic detection can also mark supported steps complete without replacing a deliberate user skip.
Skip a recommended or optional step
Recommended and optional steps can be skipped for now. The skipped state remains visible and can be reopened later.
Refresh readiness
Refresh after adding records or completing imports. PMA records an immutable readiness snapshot so later reviews can see what evidence was present.
Complete or dismiss setup
Owners and administrators can complete the journey when the required setup items are clear, or dismiss it for now. Both choices preserve step history and leave Setup Centre in Settings.
Expected result
The current journey and every step survive sign-out in PMA Cloud, recognized existing work appears without forcing duplicate entry, and the user always has a direct route to the next action and Help Centre article.
Safety boundaries
- No staged import writes authoritative records before explicit final confirmation.
- PMA never silently merges animals, invents lineage, confirms uncertain genetics, or guesses Housing assignments.
- Verified settings and existing records are not silently overwritten.
- Sample records must remain clearly labelled and separately removable from real records.
- A PMA readiness recommendation is not professional husbandry, veterinary, biosecurity, legal, or facility certification.
Troubleshooting
A completed step returned to active
A user reopened the step or the organization-wide journey was reopened. Review the step note and current evidence before changing it again.
A manager cannot dismiss setup
Only owners and administrators can change the organization-wide journey state. Managers can still complete permitted operational steps.
Readiness differs from the visible list
Refresh after data changes. If the difference persists, inspect unresolved import rows, archived records, species-library state, and permissions.
